Power + Light Building

Power + Light Building

with ESI Design

Background

The former Public Service Building was once the home of Portland’s main power station. Years of bland renovations had hidden away much of the building’s historic character. The client asked us to develop a fresh new face for this landmarked property

Strategy

We began by rebranding the place with a strong new identity: the Power+Light Building. The new logo, installed prominently above the main entrance, features a custom font taken from details original to the building and a motif inspired by electrical diagramming.

Rugs, furniture and fixtures were designed and built custom for the property

Many of the custom elements we designed for the space refer back to the unique line-and-node style employed in old circuit diagrams, while still feeling period-appropriate.
