Interactive Drawings
Background
Iām always interested in finding new ways to communicate ideas to clients. My first design job was as an interactive motion graphics designer, and this initiative was an attempt to use those skills in a way that would explain a proposed plan to a client in a more compelling way than a standard static development drawing.
Above is a screen capture of an interactive drawing I made for a retail project. All the operable or mobile elements like cabinets, drawers and fixtures are dynamic and can be manipulated. I find that much like a homebuyer wants to run their hand along every counter and open every cabinet door, clients really get a better sense of how a space can work if they can interact with a design this way, even if it still looks like a simple 2D drawing.
